Search Engine Optimization involves making numerous small changes to your website with the goal of increasing the amount of visitors to the site by obtaining a high ranking placement in the search results page of a search engine. You want to optimize your site to the point where you land on the first page of google.
71.33% of searches result in a page one Google organic click. On the first page, the first 5 results get 67.60% of all the clicks. If your not in the top 5 results, on the first page, your losing a ton of traffic. If your not even on the first page, it's unlikely your website is being found by your target market.
If your not using a www. url for your website, use a 301 redirect. Use google webmaster tools. Check to see if your domain was used previously by spammers. If it was, your not going to rank very well. You can check this by checking keywords for your site in webmaster tools. Perform a crawl within webmaster tools to make sure users are being redirected properly. Finally, use the fetch as google bot feature and set submit to index for URL to active. With this feature active, every-time you create a new page, Google will have it available to searchers faster.
Your site should be focused; each page should contain only 1 logical topic. Your site should be navigable; if a searcher lands on a child page they should be able to get where they need to go. Every page should include a unique topic, a unique title tag, a unique meta description, and descriptive anchor text for every link.
Include relevant keywords in your copy. Use the Google AdWords keyword planner to find what people are searching for in your niche. Answer questions users' may have such as how much does the product cost? is it reputable? are their other users? & what support is available?
